| Step 13 - Shining | |
| This is the last stage of the making of khukuri. Khukuri and its handle are shined and smoothened on both sides by using 'Buff Shining Machine'. The craftsman is very cautious not to over do the work as heat (temperature) generated while shining could spoil the temper (hardness) of the blade and consequently making it soft and weak. | ![]() |
| Step 14 - Final Check Up | |
| This is the final stage before the transportation to Kathmandu for sale and supply. All khukuris are thoroughly checked and carefully observed for any cracks or unwanted pop-outs. The master craftsman tests the edge and handle regularly until he is completely satisfied. The testing of the edge of a blade against another blade is very crucial. The blade of a khukuri must slice the spine of another khukuri to some reasonable depth to be qualified for supply. | ![]() |
